CCP students explored PHS archival collections, including items dating back to 1516, in three major ways: in classes conducting site visits, as student interns working in the archive, and as exhibitors putting together art installations at the PHS building and online.

Find learning materials to help your coursework, and ways primary-source information can be used outside the classroom.

During Building Knowledge and Breaking Barriers, 300 Community College of Philadelphia students explored letters, photographs, architectural drawings, speeches, sermons, and other primary sources that they used in research papers, fiction writing, collections visits, and exhibits that show how history can become art.

The BKBB project aimed to break down barriers that prevent students from accessing the rich historical materials held in archives like those of the Presbyterian Historical Society.
